WHAT ARE FLOWER ESSENCES?

Flower essences carry the energy of flowers, which are the most energetically expressive aspect of a plant. Each plant carries a certain energy. If you get quiet in the presence of that plant you can feel it. Energetically, there is a big difference between a towering Douglas fir and an enormous oak. There is a difference in the energy of a rose and that of a lilac, or a hydrangea, a nasturtium, a wild Queen Anne’s lace. As I experience it, there are similarities in how families of flowers feel, but each individual flower also has its own particular energy, based on the influences of where it is living ~ terroir, if you will ~ and also the life experience of that particular flower. So a rose grown in my garden in the Pacific Northwest will carry the energy of the Pacific Northwest, plus the energy of the care I have given it and the relationship we have cultivated. A rose grown by me, with the same care and attention, in Virginia, will have a beautiful but different energy. A wild rose will have a different energy completely.

It’s these different energies that are captured in flower essences. They are made by placing flowers, straight from the living plant, into water, and leaving it to sit in the sun for a period of of time. If you are familiar with the work of Masaru Emoto, perhaps you have seen the photos of frozen crystals of water exposed to different energies. It’s a similar concept here. In the case of flower essences, the energy dissipates from the water over time. Preserving the essence in brandy helps to both hold the energy and protect the essence from degradation.

As for Altruria Springs Healing Flower Essences, there are 27 of them. All but one were made using flowers from my garden in Washington State. So in addition to the energy of each individual flower, these essences carry the energy of the Pacific Northwest. Now that I have moved to the woods of rural Southwestern Virginia, my remedies are made and cured here, so they carry that energy, as well. I want to share personally that I have returned to my motherland. I am living in the home where my mother lived, and grandmother before her. It is a rich, nurturing environment where I am held by spirit and surrounded by extended family. When you take my remedies, I hope you will feel that energy, in addition to the energy of the plants, of the Pacific Northwest, and of the woods of Virginia.
